Tending The Sacred Fire
Cancer Full Moon 2018
As the New Year begins, a Cancer full moon, 2018’s biggest supermoon, will light up the evening sky across North America. Sun, Venus, Saturn, Pluto, and Black Moon Lilith all congregate in the zodiacal sign of Capricorn, opposing the Moon at 12° Cancer. Mars is approaching perfection with Jupiter, and both meet up with asteroid Vesta in Scorpio, all three squaring the lunar nodes in Leo and Aquarius. Squares to the lunar nodes correlate to what is known as "skipped steps", a condition produced when some facet of evolutionary growth has become stalled or avoided. Something was denied in the Soul's prior growth either by the self or another. In this lifetime the Soul has set the parameters for this lesson to be resolved. Mars squaring the nodes correlates to the failure to self-actualize according to the Soul's intentions. Jupiter correlates to a discrepancy between the belief structure held onto by the subjective ego, and a belief structure based on natural law held by Soul ego. Vesta correlates to our sacred bond to ourselves, to our core authenticity. As a skipped step we are being shown that our personal authenticity has been co-opted by the demands of the collective.
This lunation falls directly across the nodal axis of Jupiter with the Moon conjunct Jupiter's north node and the Sun conjoining Jupiter's south node restating the "skipped step" represented by Jupiter squaring the lunar nodes. Jupiter's planetary nodes have an extremely long transit cycle. They have resided in Cancer and Capricorn for over 1000 years and will remain there for another 3000 years. A monumental power shift of authority occurred somewhere around the beginning of this nodal transit which we categorize as the transition from matriarchy to patriarchy. The issues surrounding this balance of the sexes is currently exploding with an impact unprecedented in modern times. This astrological dynamic is magnified as Pluto also is approaching perfection with it's own planetary south node in Capricorn which is fueling the foundational tremors in our current political, social, and economic worlds.
The first month of the New Year can bring with it some harsh, unforgiving, and uncompromising realities. Emotions will run high. Where is the meaning in our lives? What is really important? What is true? What is real? Values, priorities, responsibilities, and commitments come under the microscope. The answers lead to new levels of personal authenticity. Each of us hold a sacred fire within us. As the natural cycle of the life force of the Earth withdraws inward again to rest and renew, we can as well go inward, and sit with our own inner sacred fire to find a place of sanctuary and renewal.
Is there something that you are hanging onto that you need to let go of, something that was once important to you no longer meaningful? Has something happened that has made you think differently about yourself? No matter what changes, whether on the inside or out, you are still going to be you.
Is there something that you would like to tell us Taurus? Something that has been bubbling up but you have kind of just sat on it? Let it out. Talk about it with someone you trust. Whatever it is, it is real and wants the light of day.
Marie Curie said, “Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas.” We need to also be curious about our ideas as well. What is it that we believe that is not true? What do we believe that we “learned” from someone else? Get to the bottom of it all.
Have you traded your authenticity for companionship? Are you nurturing others but not taking responsibility for your own wellbeing? It’s time to call yourself back home. You cannot support someone else if you yourself are not supported.
It’s the morning after for you Leo. You parta-ay’d all the holida-ay, but now it is time to rein it in. What has become exposed that you have been neglecting? Take ownership of it. The cold weather is coming so fortify your body, mind, and soul.
Albert Einstein said, “I never made one of my discoveries through the process of rational thinking”. Think outside of the box this month Virgo. Go long and wide. Have an epiphany…if they are small, have two.
Is there something that you are being called to do? Does your day job still feel like a good fit? What is the voice inside of your head telling you? What would you do if you could do anything? How divergent is that from your current reality?
Author Tony Robbins said, “It's not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.” We build the structure of our lives according to what we believe. Do your values and beliefs match your lifestyle?
You have traveled many places, some were on a map and some were in your mind. What did you learn there? What did you “bring back”? What still works? What doesn’t?
Is there some tension in any of your close relationships about who’s in charge? Sometimes we need to surrender our authority for the sake of balance and equality. Own your own power, but share it. Unless we can give it away it doesn’t belong to us.
Marianne Williamson said, “In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.” You enter your heart cave this month Aquarius. Feel the warmth and the glow. When you are ready please share what you found.
Ask your inner child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Some answers can come to you in your dreams. Pay attention to what you receive.
