Friday Night Talk

Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn together in the sky draw out the timeless, archetypal figures of the Eternal Youth (Puer) and the Old Man, or Father Time (Senex). The Puer carries sky-high visions and longings that keep Eternity close at hand, in contrast with the Senex’s earthbound world of Time and mortality. Talk in today’s world is of building walls and restricting borders, and dystopias dominate many dreams of the future - hinting at the presence of this archetypal pair. Jupiter's move into Capricorn in December 2019 continues this dynamic, as does the abundance of planets in Capricorn in early 2020. This talk looks at Senex and Puer dynamics both in the natal chart and in life, and their relevance to this period of history. Includes numerous chart examples, and cultural and psychological references.

During the Romantic Era, when Neptune was discovered, prominent art critic and writer John Ruskin noted, “The imagination is never governed. It is always the ruling and Divine power.” In this workshop we will explore the complexities, confusions, and other-worldly realities of Neptune, including the wide-ranging terrain of Romanticism, enchantment, the god Dionysus (god of theatre and wine), poetry, escapism, Eternity, illusion, and fantasy – all of which thrive via imagination. Includes film clips and chart examples. This workshop will also look at the difference between psychological Neptune and Spiritual Neptune.
