“In the blink of an eye, something happens by chance - when you least expect it - sets you on a course that you never planned, into a future you never imagined.”
― Nicholas Sparks
When floodwaters rise, there is no holding them back. The levies break. It is the nature of water to fill up every space it passes through, and then move on. When the waters come, everything that seems to be permanently rooted or too heavy to be moved is washed away; trees, rocks, roads, cars, houses…and people.
At times like this, the enormity of the world around us seems overwhelming. The boundaries of our known world dissolve. We can land in the middle of the unknown, confused and disoriented. This paradox of awareness is one in which we know where we are, but the scene is no longer familiar. What we took for granted is gone. As Paul Simon wrote, “Everything is different, but nothing has changed.”
At the Solar Eclipse on March 8th in the Northern Hemisphere, March 9th in the South Hemisphere, the Moon will darken the Sun at 19° Pisces. The Sun and Moon enchain with Neptune, Mercury, Ceres, Chiron, and the lunar south node, all in the boundless deep emotional floodwaters of Pisces. Sun and Moon form a partile (exact) opposition to Jupiter in Virgo, applying to a conjunction to the lunar north node. The eclipse forms three tight aspects, as it separates from a T-square to Saturn in Sagittarius; forms an exact semi-sextile to Uranus in Aries, and separates from a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn.
Eclipses initiate a great potential for change. Something that we had not seen, is revealed to us, often unexpectedly, and dramatically. This eclipse in Pisces represents culmination. Something is coming to an end, seeking closure. We are being shown that we need to let go of something. However, this loss is only creating the space for something new to begin. A new cycle is opening that will reverberate through next August.
The foundation of our world has been turned upside down in the last 3 years. In the abyss revealed by this cosmic continental drift, new light emerges. We are roused into a waking lucid dream. Our understanding of place, purpose, and priorities changes in the wink of an eye. It may come as a flash of insight, trauma, or revelation; it is now clear, change is imminent… and inevitable. We are asked to begin dreaming a new future. In that instant we learn that we were never really in control, of ourselves, of our choices, our past or our future. The Wheel of Fortune is turning, taking us with it…quietly, or kicking and screaming. Like it or not, we are going forward. We know in that moment that our only choice is surrender.
Eleven days later, on March 19th and 20th, the Sun’s entry in the sign of Aries heralds the arrival of Spring. The potential for new growth is at its fullest. Life re-merges from the Earth after its seasonal slumber. It is the same with our lives. In time the Sun comes out again. The water has swept away the familiar emotional landscape of the past, which had become second nature. The past slips away, like Peter Pan’s shadow. We pick up the pieces, make a new plan, and like the water, we move on to find new spaces to fill.
This is a fortunate event, mystical, a moment of illumination to remind you that “It’s all good.” The emotional flood has cleansed away the burdens that we were unable to release. A new spiritual awareness enables us to see with different eyes. What we had become blinded to, emotionally unable to see, is scrubbed clean and is revealed in the clear light of a new day. Not only do we see circumstances differently, we are also now empowered to move into a new emotional space, and make different more conscious choices.
By the time of the Lunar Eclipse at 4° Libra on March 23rd and 24th, the Moon will oppose the Sun conjunct Mercury in Aries and forming a trine to Mars in Sagittarius. As the Sun approaches Uranus in the early days of Spring, a new cycle of creativity, individuality, and ingenuity opens. Our natural instincts are activated and we will be inspired to create the necessary practical solutions that actualize our new self-image and bring our dreams into reality.
During an eclipse season, potentials are thrust wide open, unchallenged, and filled with new promise. We stand on a precipice. Insecurity might want halt us, but the energetic momentum of the time-space through which we are passing is accelerating and exhilarating. We are emotionally and circumstantially thrust forward, no longer looking back. We look to new opportunities that we are in the process of defining. This is our role, to write the definitions, find new meaning, and to re-imagine our selves, opening the conscious dream of a new future.
Yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream.
